Your Ribbon Cutting
A ribbon cutting is one of the many ways that you can market your business as a member of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce at no charge by the Chamber. Whether it is a grand opening, an anniversary celebration, a renovated office, a new or additional location, the Chamber staff will assist you in planning your event.
There are some important details to consider before planning your event:
You must be a member of the DCRCOC for a minimum of six months;
We encourage that you attend one or two ribbon cuttings prior to organizing your own;
You allow a minimum of six weeks for the planning of your event so the Chamber can market it properly.
We recommend that ribbon cuttings are scheduled during the weekdays, preferably during the lunch hours, or at 4:30PM, as to allow the business community to attend more easily. It is less likely to have participation from the business community as well as the elected officials during the weekend.
Provide refreshments for attendees. Please utilize Chamber members to cater your event.
We encourage you to invite your customers, family and friends.
The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce reserves the sole right to cancel ribbon cuttings due to inclement weather conditions. While we will make every effort to hold your ribbon cutting, the safety of our members is our first concern. We ask that you take this into consideration when scheduling your ribbon cutting, especially during winter months.
Once you are ready to plan your ribbon cutting, please complete and submit the registration form below.
Carmela Spreer, Administrative Assistant, will then contact you to assist you in organizing your event.
By allowing a minimum of six weeks for the planning of your event, the following is the marketing that is provided by the DCRCOC for your ribbon cutting. We cannot guarantee the number of attendees*, as this type of event is predominately for exposure of your business. We provide the following announcements:
- Letters of invitations to elected officials (federal, state, county, local) that represent the area of the location of your business.
- The date and location of your ribbon cutting is highlighted in our monthly newsletter, The Bottom Line, during the month of your event. This newsletter is distributed to 2,000 of our members as well as inserted in the Poughkeepsie Journal with a distribution of over 44,000 Journal subscribers.
- A press release listing your ribbon cutting will be sent to our extensive media list.
- The ribbon cutting is listed on our Community Calendar in our web site, www.dcrcoc.org, as well as listed under the Ribbon Cutting listing on the home page of our web site during the week of the event.
- The ribbon cutting is listed on the mass email to our members on the week of the event.
- The ribbon cutting is promoted on our three weekly radio shows, Clear Channel Communications, Cumulus Broadcasting, and Pamal Broadcasting, prior to the event.
- A list of all ribbon cuttings is distributed to all guests of the Contact Breakfast for the present month.
- An updated list of scheduled ribbon cuttings is included in the new member packets each month.
*If you wish to have a certain number of people at your ribbon cutting, in addition to the above, we can also design, print and mail a postcard invitation to a selected group of members. We will also take the RSVP’s and make any necessary follow up calls to insure your requested attendance at your event. This type of ribbon cutting is available at a special rate. There are also media packages available for your ribbon cutting if you are interested.
