Job growth in Dutchess County has risen to #34 on the Milken Institute's ''Best Performing Cities'' list for 2002, subtitled, ''Where America's Jobs are Created,'' gaining nine places since last year and winning the top ranking within New York State. Though Dutchess scored 34th overall out of 200 metropolitan areas in the nation, it scored higher in some categories. For wages and salary growth from 2000 to 2002, Dutchess scored fifth. On a measure reflecting how much high-technology business concentration a place has, Dutchess scored 10th.
