New Initiatives Foster Chamber's Commitment to Members

January was a very busy month at the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Fortunately it has only taken me one month to regulate my schedule to allow my practice not to interfere with my activities as Chairman of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. We are working on two new initiatives which I believe further fosters the Chamber’s commitment to it’s members.

In conjunction with William H. Schlesinger, President of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, we have created a new committee known as the “Working Green Committee.” It’s aim is to help articulate practical and economic ways that business owners and other managers can change behavior and make a difference.

We have also launched the Chamber Alliance Committee, which, along with the guidance of Judith Brush, will allow our Chamber to coordinate efforts and benefits with the other Chambers and business associations in the county to provide economical and needed benefits to the various Chambers’ members.

During the next several months, we will be developing both committees and will be providing more information as the missions of the committees are solidified.

For those who were unable to attend the annual gala, you missed a wonderful event. The Chamber can not thank enough the Bonura family and The Grandview for such a spectacular event. In keeping with the theme of Jewels of the Hudson Valley, the Adams family is one of the jewels that shine brightly in our community.

Their commitment to the community is just another good example of “Think Local First” and reinforces the theme that If you Shop, If you Dine and even If you Shop on Line, Think Local First. The benefits will keep on rewarding you.
