The Business Institute offers entrepreneurs an excellent opportunity to learn how to develop a business plan, fine-tune a marketing campaign, use social media to grow the bottom line, and apply for financing.

  9:00 am -   10:00 am        Business Basics -- Sometimes we get caught up in all that needs to be done every day and lose sight of the basics of our business.  Whether you are starting a business or have owned a business for a while, we'll help you take a look at the core principles that are in play for a successful business.

10:10 am - 11:30 am           Developing a Plan for Your Business -- This session will show you how to develop a comprehensive plan including business scope, market analysis and strategy, competitive analysis and realistic financial forecasts
11:30 am - Noon                  Adriance Small Business Resources -- Learn what library resources are available to assist you in researching industry trends, demographic information, target markets and more to create a more persuasive business plan.

Throughout the daylong seminar series, presentations are planned from SCORE, SBDC, the Library District’s Public Computer Center, Community Capital of New York and more. Participants will also have ample time to explore the historic Adriance Memorial Library during the scheduled one-hour lunch break, at which time everyone is encouraged to bring a packed lunch or visit one of Poughkeepsie’s many fine restaurants within walking distance. Plus, Verizon representatives will be onsite to discuss the latest communications needs for your small business.
